What is the BUS grant?

The boiler upgrade scheme (BUS) is a government grant in replacement of the RHI, the grant is applicable to homes that have an existing fossil fuelled system which is replaced by an air or ground source heat pump.

Each home home can recieve £7,500 towards an ASHP or a GSHP. The scheme plans on issuing £150m worth of vouchers per annum for the next 3 years.

The goal is to decarbonise as many homes as possible with the finances available.

The process:

Step 1

Firstly an EPC that has been taken within the past 10 years is required. On this EPC loft insulation, if applicable, must be at a minimum of 300mm. Likewise with any cavity walls, these must be filled with an EPC to confirm this.

Step 2

We apply to Ofgem, after-which you will receive an email asking for confirmation of our application. Following this we should recieve notification of voucher approval meaning we are able to install within the next 3 months.

Step 3

After commissioning we will then inform Ofgem of our install, within 2 weeks we will then recieve our final payment!
